Unless your dog is dirty or has specific skin conditions, it is generally not necessary to bathe your dog more than fortnightly. Excessive bathing will cause skin conditions in sensitive dogs. A range of dog shampoos and conditioners are specifically formulated for your dog’s skin as well as special preparations for particular skin conditions.

Shampooing is not an effective way of controlling fleas compared to modern flea control compounds that area available in spot-on and tablet form, so use shampooing to keep your dog clean and a separate flea control spot-on or tablet.

Remember – don’t wash your dog a day either side of using spot-on products as this decreases the effectiveness of these products.

Remember, do not allow your dog to go swimming or have a wash if it has stitches from recent surgery.
