Not all human foods are suitable for feeding to your dog. In large enough quantities some seemingly innocuous human foods can cause severe problems for your dog. Be particularly careful with small dogs. Some human foods and human drugs are toxic to pets because pets metabolize certain chemicals differently to humans. Other foods such as stone fruit can potentially cause gut obstructions.

The following foods have been implicated in serious illnesses when ingested in sufficient quantities, so keep them out of reach and refrain from feeding them :

1. Onions
2. Garlic
3. Chocolate
4. Grapes and Raisins
5. Rhubarb
6. Human Medications
7. Illicit/ Recreational drugs
8. Compost
9. Nuts
10. Stone fruit / corn cobs
